Between Christmas and New Year’s, Cindy and I took our Custom Gheenoe LT25 (http://www.customgheenoe.com/boat-models/low-tide-25-3/#/1/2) for a ride on Blue Cypress Lake (http://myfwc.com/fishing/freshwater/sites-forecast/ne/lake-blue-cypress). Blue Cypress Lake is noteworthy due to the shoreline being thickly populated with Bald Cypress – this includes well out into the water. Though popular with the fishermen, I am most interested in the photographic possibilities. Near the trees, it is shallow so a tripod can be dropped into the water if needed. However, we opted for shooting from the boat. In the AM pre-dawn, ISO 3200 to start with for handheld at f/8. Image stabilized lens a big plus here. When the light got strong, I switched to my infrared converted Canon 5D Mark III. Cindy stayed with her Canon 5D Mark IV and worked some great back-lite images.
Some of the infrared images I created are posted below. Next post I will get more into logistics, include more images including color and post Cindy’s images too.
